A new option to pay your AOBO monthly dues

Without the regular monthly income Kiahuna owners depend on from rentals, the last year has been an enormous challenge.  

 

Your AOBO Board continues to look for ways to help owners, especially during this difficult time.  With that in mind, you have a new option to pay Association dues on time, preventing late fees and other costs. 

 

You can now use a credit card to pay your monthly AOBO dues.  

 

HVC (Hawaiian Vacation Condos), our managing agent for the property, recently implemented a new owner portal allowing you to pay your dues by: 

 

·      Credit card

·      Debit card 

·      Electronic bank payment called ACH (Automated Clearing House)

 

Do you like the way you’re paying your dues now?  No need to change.  You can continue to make electronic payments (called EFT, electronic funds transfer) or send payments by check.  

 

For some owners, closely managing the payment date or even putting the payment on a credit card might be important during this time. 

 

With so many payment options, you might wonder which one is best for you.  Here is a quick analysis of the options:

 

1.     Set up EFT payments from your bank account (most efficient method)  

PROS:  No cost to you.  HVC automatically submits one transaction for all.

CONS:  The payment date is pre-set to the 1^st of the month.

 

2.     Send in a check every month (requires your monthly action)

PROS:  No cost to you other than a stamp.  You control when the payment is sent.

CONS:  Mail delivery is unpredictable, risking late payment.  You have to remember to send the check every month.

 

3.     Via the new portal, pay by credit card (best if funds not immediately available)

PROS:  Best option if cash flow is your main concern.  You set date of payment.

CONS:  Transaction fee of 3.95%, similar to what you’d pay in AOBO delinquency fees and interest. Your monthly action required.

 

4.     Via the new portal, pay by ACH (more control on when payment is made)

PROS:  You set date of payment.

CONS:  Transaction fee of $2.95.  Your monthly action required.

 

5.     Via the new portal, pay by debit card (this option doesn’t provide owners any new value, just cost)

PROS:  none different than above.

CONS: Transaction fee same as credit card, does not help cash flow. 

 

If you want to use the new payment option, go to the owner portal:  https://kiahunaaobo.frontsteps.com/users/sign_in.  You’ll see a button called “Make Payment” that takes you to the set-up screen.

 

Delinquencies impact the entire owner community.  This new capability, especially the credit card option, gives owners another way to stay current with their dues.
