BEACHHOUSE OWNERS

Aloha Guests and Owners
You may have heard that Tropical Storm Ana is heading toward the State of Hawaii. The storm is expected to pass the island of Hawaii (as a tropical storm) by late Friday (10/17/2014). The forecast for Kauai has improved. That said, we still expect adverse conditions and will remain cautious.
Note:
Our first Tropical Storm Update was incorrectly dated as 10/16/2014. The correct date was 10/15/2014.
We apologize for any confusion.

Owners' Meeting and Fundraiser information
Aloha
Kiahuna Homeowners!
We are just a month away from
completing our 1st Annual November Fundraiser 2014. I am happy to report that a few homeowners
have already sent in their very generous donations and we have reached almost
$1000!! Our goal is $3000 so we are
one-third of the way there!! Marianne is
holding their checks for me until I arrive on the Island (like Hurricane
Marie!) and start personally asking for donations. Of course, all that have donated are “safe”
from me until next time.
For those who want to know what we are
fundraising for, it is for the historic site down the road from Kiahuna
Plantation called “Kahua O Kāneiolouma.” It contains remnants of an
ancient Hawaiian village at Poʻipū. The complex, presently under the jurisdiction
of the County of Kauaʻi contains numerous habitation, cultivation,
sporting or assembly, and religious structures dating to at least the mid‐1400’s. Members of the Native Hawaiian group Hui
Mālama O Kāneiolouma have unofficially cared
for Kāneiolouma for more than a decade. The group has a vision
and mission to protect, restore, interpret, and share Kāneiolouma as
a public cultural preserve. The intent is to preserve in perpetuity, for
all people, the sacred site at Kāneiolouma and ensure that irreplaceable
knowledge and heritage are passed on to the future. This project will
develop a public cultural preserve integrated within the popular visitor
destination of Poʻipū and will represent the only such visitor attraction of
its kind on Kauaʻi. You can find
much more information on the group's web site at http://www.Kāneiolouma.org. Make
sure to check out the introductory video link in the upper right hand corner of
the home page that captures the spirit of the project.
We will also be having a silent auction
for homeowners and guests. Judy Stupfel
has donated 3 small quilts, and two gently loved pillowcases for the
auction. Jim Nahmens, Alan Hart and
Roger Mullenhour, our photographers, have donated photos for the auction. There will also be a basket of Island goodies
donated by another homeowner who wishes to remain anonymous. So bring your checkbooks or cash as I cannot
process credit cards although I would be happy to use your credit card when I
shop. Of course, if you wish to have
“protection” from Hurricane Marie, then you may send your donation early to
Marianne Thesken. Remember...this is a
taxable donation for 2014!
We will be taking a tour of the
historic site, too, on Sunday, November 9th, time TBD! Homeowners on
the island are encouraged to join us that day, as we will be presenting our
gift to them.
All checks
should be made to: Hui Malama O Kāneiolouma.
